Acceptance

By using taxpoints.org (the “Platform”), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform. These terms apply to all visitors, voters, and donors.

What Taxpoints is

Taxpoints is a civic engagement platform that collects structured public opinion data on federal budget priorities. It is not a government service, a lobbying organization, a political action committee, or a registered nonprofit. It is an independent, founder-funded platform operated as a sole proprietorship, with a planned conversion to a Public Benefit Corporation.

Results published on the Platform represent aggregate citizen input and are provided for informational and civic engagement purposes. They are not scientific polls, legal filings, or formal petitions.

Your vote

You may submit one vote per email address. Submitting multiple votes using different email addresses to manipulate results is prohibited. We reserve the right to deduplicate, flag, or remove votes that appear to be automated, coordinated, or otherwise inauthentic.

By submitting a vote, you represent that you are a US resident providing your genuine spending priorities. You grant Taxpoints a perpetual, irrevocable license to include your anonymized allocation data in aggregate results and analyses.

Prohibited conduct

You may not:

• Use automated tools, bots, scripts, or AI agents to submit votes or contact form submissions
• Attempt to circumvent Cloudflare Turnstile or any other bot-detection measure
• Submit false or misleading information in any form field
• Attempt to access, modify, or interfere with the Platform’s backend systems, databases, or Edge Functions
• Scrape, harvest, or republish Platform data in bulk without written permission
• Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law

Intellectual property

All Platform content — including copy, design, code, methodology, and data presentations — is owned by Taxpoints and protected by copyright. You may share links to the Platform and reference aggregate results with attribution. You may not reproduce substantial portions of the Platform’s content without written permission.

Donations and founding membership

Donations are voluntary and processed by Stripe. They are not tax-deductible. Founding member status (granted at $5 or more) entitles donors to grandfathered access at no additional cost when a membership fee is introduced. We reserve the right to define and modify the scope of founding member benefits, provided that the core grandfathering commitment is honored.

Disclaimer of warranties

The Platform is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. Aggregate results are provided for informational purposes and may contain errors or anomalies.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Taxpoints and its founder shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform, including but not limited to loss of data or reliance on published results.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the Platform evolves. We will note material changes with a revised effective date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in King County, Washington.
